POSSESSIVE SENTENCE STARTERS.
If you can swing it, here’s why:
I suspect that the December 17th deadline is so that Verizon/Yahoo can clean house and make Tumblr appealing to investors. This is a Q4/Q1 fire sale kind of thing. It makes a certain amount of business sense to make this change. Human-lead content curation (e.g. separating the CP from the legit) is expensive and time-consuming. I doubt they have the money for it. They already sold off Flickr. As a long-time Flickr pro user, I’m not pleased by the change and increase in pro account price, but I get it.
Investors are looking for a user base. User base is a prime attraction for investment or buy-out for a social media platform or application (I speak from experience as a co-founder of Rhinobird.tv).
Every account that is cancelled will be one less account in Tumblr’s user base for their pitch. I assume that there are millions of accounts with some percentage simply being abandoned accounts that haven’t been used in years. So cancelling one’s account on the way out the door won’t really matter unless the number of cancelled accounts reaches several hundred thousand at least.
If you decide to leave and cancel, then I also recommend sending a polite message to Tumblr staff, or tweet to the account about why you are leaving.
Finally, using Twitter to voice your concerns and thoughts about this issue will increase its visibility. They ain’t gonna like that. Media outlets that cater to tech entrepreneurs, and Silicon Valley types are going to be all over this.
I never ask for reblogs, but I will this one time.
Reblog!!!
Well said. Saving the best of my stuff and then this will be shut down. Giving it 7 days then I will delete this account. All of my 33000 followers should do the same.
Here’s your sign.
Always about the stock price

RE BLOG
written erotica is not under the new ban policy, only explicit photosets and videos, so hopefully it won’t affect the rpc beyond being unable to reblog 20 consecutive gif sets of porn on sundays (nsfw photos/gifs that already existed before Dec 17 will only be privatized/probably only viewable by OP, not deleted; your posts that get unfairly flagged can be disputed via email). What really concerns me is how much this may hurt sex workers (including nsfw artists) and the sex positive (largely POC/LGBTQ) community on this site, who actively use this place to promote their work. Their blogs were already being deleted without notice before the announcement. The fact that this ban will happen on the day of International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers too is just… gross. But Tumblr isn’t the first nor the last to do this to sex workers since the FOTSA/SESTA ban, so here are some links for sex workers on tumblr:
Alternative sites for sex workers to continue their work safely is switter, a sex worker friendly social app and Austrian service with similar mechanics to twitter. tryst is also an ethical escort website developed for sex workers by assembly four. resources for sex workers internationally and sex work education can be found here.

Fellow Tumblrs,
If you haven’t noticed Tumblr is flagging a lot of posts for adult content which is no longer going to be allowed. So it looks like Tumblr is changing.
Yes Tumblr is ‘cracking down’ on images on here but it is not making words go away, just the naughty pictures.
If you have, like me, posted things that are flagged you can request them to be reviewed because currently it is just computer algorithm doing the flagging. They are not going to terminate your blog for what you have posted, they will just not be public when this policy starts on 17th. It is posting things after that date may get you in trouble.
On a side note, if you didn’t see this coming with Verizon as the owner of this bit of the internet, you were kidding yourself. Don’t like it, cancel your Verizon phone plan but don’t cancel your Tumblr.
Don’t cancel your Tumblr because you do not want to lose your followers. If you decide to leave Tumblr you can have your followers follow you but just being pissy and deleting your Tumblr you will lose all of that.
So remain calm and don’t do anything rash :)
Here is a snippet of the new rules:
Today we announced some big updates to our Community Guidelines
and what kind of content is permitted on Tumblr. Adult content will no
longer be allowed here. While we do not judge anyone for their desire to
post, engage with, or view this stuff, it is time for us to change our
relationship with it.
We expect you may have some questions on how this will affect you, and we’re here to make sure those questions get answered.
Our new Community Guidelines will go into effect on December 17, 2018.
Newly uploaded content flagged as adult will no longer be allowed on Tumblr. We’ll also begin flagging and removing existing adult content with the ultimate goal of removing as much of it as we can.
Adult
content primarily includes photos, videos, or GIFs that show real-life
human genitals or female-presenting nipples, and any content—including
photos, videos, GIFs and illustrations—that depicts sex acts.

Just wanted to make my followers aware that as Bob Dylan says “The times they are a changing”.
Good advice.
